Major events
Monday evenings, from 1st July to 31 August: craftsmen's stalls are set up on Nauzan promenade for the now traditional Evening Markets that attract large crowds every year and provide an opportunity for a pleasant evening stroll by the sea.
Tuesday evenings see the emphasis placed on cinema with "Cinétoiles". 5 films are shown free in the open air, under the stars, at the Théâtre de Verdure (Outdoor Theatre). This is a new concept for the Pays Royannais and has become very popular. A cinema-concert evening is planned for the 5th showing.
Wednesdays and Saturdays: it's the youngsters' turn, with the ever-popular Guignol and "La Piste aux Enfants".
On Thursday evenings, back to Nauzan promenade for a series of concerts as part of the "Révélations Musicales" and "Nauz'En Musique". A wide range of musical styles is represented, the sign of a deliberate eclecticism that gives everyone a chance to broaden his musical culture.
There are also a number of one-off events that all form part of the summer programme in Vaux-sur-Mer:
The music festival, The Departmental Band concert in the Théâtre de Verdure, Musical Thursdays, beach volleyball tournaments on Nauzan beach, the "12 km de Vaux" run, the "Fêtes Champêtres" (garden parties) organised by the Vaux Perspectives association, the firework display on Nauzan beach, the painting exhibitions at the Galerie Saint-Etienne and the Temple, etc.
And then, of course, there's Festi'Vaux:
Festi'Vaux is, without doubt, the flagship event of the season, firstly because the technical resources used for the 3 evenings of concerts are considerable, and, secondly, because year after year the festival has offered an ever-larger audience a high-quality music programme with well-known artistes such as Bratsh, Dobacaracol, Jehro, Alexandre Kinn, So Kalmery and André Minvielle. In 2009: Grace, Bensé and the Mellino des Négresses Vertes will be the guests at this event, which takes place at the Théâtre de Verdure in the Parc de la Mairie.
